People Medicine vs. Doctor Medicine: Thoughts Worthy of Your Consideration
“Physicians are taught to save lives, not money.”
This quote is only partly true. Still, modern medicine is all about bodies and diseases, fixing and mending, repairing and curing.
Unfortunately, health and healing, common sense and simplicity have become further and further removed form medical practice.
There is NO course in medical school on health or healing. Neither on diet and nutrition. Certainly, no room for talk about spirit and religion. Nor on business and costs and laws.
When I grew up, a man or woman studied medicine to do service in his/her community. But now, medicine is all too often more of a business than a service. Overall, it is a Very Big Business. Physicians often are more focused on the financial bottom line than on serving, helping and aiding their fellows.
Recently, I was astonished to receive the quarterly magazine from my college alma mater, Texas Christian University, which touted its medical school to be built in Fort Worth. It was eye popping to read not of the works it would do, but of the emphasis on the billions of dollars it would bring into the local economy.
Some day, this must change. You can be part of that change. The rule of money must give way to higher value.
Visit here from time to time learn about a New Paradigm in Medicine and Healing which must emerge in coming years for the betterment of all.
